Vienna
Rugs by Warlamis
The Vienna
Collection successfully attempts through the intensive cooperation
of artists, textile technicians, textile chemists and knotters
to combine outstanding old techniques with contemporary art.
Only natural
materials such as cotton, raw silk, and the best available pure
new wool from the highlands of Tibet or New Zealand are used as
base materials and carpet pile. These wools are characterized
by their elasticity and by their self-cleaning high fat content,
properties which guarantee the durability of the rug.
The quality
processing is adapted to today's requirements for color authenticity
and for the colorfastness of the wool. As far as possible, the
wool is knotted and spun by hand and dyed with natural colors.
With this processing, an infinite variety of nuances are achieved,
which enrich the rug and lend it a certain charm which often unfolds
and intensifies over time.
Each rug is
supplied with its own edition number and a certification medal
in the form of a metal head exclusively designed by the artist
for this modern rug series. The certificate carries a personal
signature of architect Prof.
Warlamis, the chief designer of the VIENNA COLLECTION.
