Which products can be customized?
Custom rugs designed from scratch are available, your artwork or most of the rugs in our catalog, Please note that while the vast majority of our items can be custom-made, certain designs will have to be authorized by the respective manufacturer or designer. and not just contemporary designs! We can make custom gabbeh rugs, traditional or oriental rugs, high-low pile rugs, and just about anything you can imagine. The majority of the area rug designs we carry on our online catalog are also customizable. We are currently able to customize most of our hand-tufted rugs and shag rugs for size only. Round rugs are often available. Most of our hand-knotted rugs are customizeable in size, shape, and color. Not customizable are our stain resistant and synthetic fiber or machine made rugs.
How much will a custom rug cost?
To have a rough estimate of what a custom rug will cost, we calculate the price per square foot of a design from our online catalog and add an upcharge based on the complexity of the design, the number of colors, size of the loom and style of rug. The minimum custom rug order we accept is 6'x9' in hand tufted quality; the minimum in hand knotted quality is 5'x8' and runners over 9'. Is there a discount for volume orders?
Absolutely. We can reduce the cost of custom rugs by dyeing large quantities of yarns, using the same loom to produce multiple custom rugs, and purchasing materials and labor in larger volume. This allows us to extend these savings to you, the customer. This is how we ahve become the most affordable custom rug company in the industry. We have been working together with the Hopitality Industry for more than 15 years, and will work with you to make your project perfect.
What is the Lead Time on a Custom Rug?
Our Lead Times are far more expedient than industry standards. ModernRugs.com delivers Large Rugs within 8 weeks from your final approval. Lead times can, of course, be affected by the complexity and size of the rug that you are ordering. However, most rugs between 6'x9' and Large Rugs (13'x20') can be delivered within 60 days from the time that you approve the yarns, colors and renderings.
The process, start to finish:
Charges per hour may apply and will be discounted from the final price of your rug. Custom swatches are available for a $200 fee plus the cost per square foot of the rug. Swatches take 2-4 weeks to deliver. A written, faxed confirmation with advance payment is required to place the order, and we will handle the rest! Delivery generally takes 3-5 months and white glove installation services are available upon request. Expedited shipments may be available; please contact us directly with your special needs.
PLEASE NOTE: Rug making is an art. Our custom rugs are made by very skilled artisans and are all made by hand, as such they are subject to minor irregularities. Slight variations in size, texture, and color are common and considered acceptable. Some rugs with complex designs and non-standard colors and gradients may take longer to complete. Once the process of loom construction, and wool dyeing has been started, WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY CANCELLATIONS OR ISSUE REFUNDS.
Delivery time: We do our best to comply and adhere to the time schedule that was given to you during your initial order. We typically deliver custom rug orders ahead of schedule. However, there are conditions that are out of our control that may cause an unforeseen delay. We will of course communicate this with you as soon as we are informed of any changes in lead time.
